Company History

Approaching 100 Years of Service to Farmers

Nearly 100 years ago, in 1916, Congress provided for a structure of self-help, farmer-owned cooperatives that resulted in the establishment of the Farm Credit System to provide sound, adequate, reliable and constructive credit at a reasonable cost for farmers and ranchers.  The structure of Farm Credit was unique and remains so today, in that the cooperative members are both owners and customers.

While the mission and purpose of Farm Credit have not changed, the needs of agriculture have, and so has United FCS.  In July 2002, Farm Credit Services of Minnesota Valley and FCS Financial Services came together to form United FCS, which is chartered to serve 10 counties in West Central Minnesota and 12 in North Central Wisconsin.  Over the past decade, United FCS has grown in capacity to serve the needs of modern agriculture, by developing new products, new services and convenient delivery mechanisms to support local producers.  United FCS also supports rural housing, modernization of rural infrastructure, local food systems and young, beginning and small farmer programs.

United FCS remains devoted to the long-term financial success of our members and rural communities.  We are committed to providing exceptional customer service (experience), offering a choice of convenient access (on-farm, branch offices, phone, on-line, etc.) and fulfilling financial service needs through a professional, highly skilled group of employees that genuinely care about our customer’s success.
